Lubek

Grandpa Reed served a mission in Germany 47 years ago. We had the honor of returning to the city of Lubek where he worked for 7 months. These "bare buns" greet you as you walk into the city! What a welcome.
This famous tower holds the "gate" that welcomes all guests to Lubek. I think Grandpa felt at home as he wandered the streets and reflected on many good memories of times past.

We were on a hunt to find the apartment where Grandpa lived over 47 years ago. He was just going from memory and it was very impressive how he navigated us through the old city streets.
We had a little detour of the Niederegger marzipan store. Grandpa remembered walking out of his apartment and smelling the marzipan from the factory. He said it was a great way to get your day going. The store was filled with amazing marzipan sculptures and they were all edible!
Grandpa walked straight to his old apartment. 8 Schillerstrause. We really enjoyed listening to his missionary stories and catching a glimpse of his personal history.

The architecture in Lubek is fantastic. Every roof line was different and added such variety to the city.
